EsquiresEsquires is a career development program focused on young men ages 13-19. The program steers its participants, who are living in poverty, away from the streets with a primary focus on academic and employment readiness, intensive case management and life-coaching. Higher high school and college graduation rates result and assist in developing our local economy. The program creates good, up-standing citizens who are community-minded, academically-sound, physically fit and socially sound leaders. Participants are drug-free and non-violent. Esquires’ mission is for boys to develop and maintain respect for themselves, parents, other adults, authority, their younger and female peers and their community. Staff guidance, weekly meetings, peer interaction and innovative activities power the Journey House Esquires program for positive men-centered development. 46 participants have been served by this program in 2010.
