Girls in the House
The Girls in the House program is designed for young ladies between the ages of 13 and 18. This program promotes growth and opportunity in six areas: health/wellness, education/career development, community service, art, life skills and mentoring. In this program, participants learn life skills that help boost their self esteem, generate social awareness, and teach them to make the successful transition into becoming self-sufficient young women who graduate from high school and college. Each woman is personally mentored, guided, directed, and inspired by a female coordinator. The coordinator’s role is to ensure the completion of a rigorous Individual Development Plan for each participant.
44 girls have been served by this program in 2010. With the assistance of Professional Dimensions (a membership organization that promotes the professional and personal growth of women through social and business exchanges and through community participation), volunteers and college service learners, this program strives to prepare young women for personal success. These ladies will go on to mentor new young women and grow our program. For more information, contact Melissa Jerke at 414-647-0548 or mjerke@journeyhouse.org. |
