The Human Resource Intern will be responsible for conducting an HR Audit and providing insights into changes and/or additions to existing policies and procedures. The short-term goal is to determine the essential policies for the employee handbook and to develop an organizational procedure manual. The long-term goal is to develop a system for future policy/procedure review and to create a strategy for communicating policy/procedure updates and additions.
This position drives employment program case management and provides educational support for Urban Careers Institute Workforce Readiness participants, including UMOS W-2 and UNCOM-YEP referrals. The Bi-Lingual Retention Specialist will work closely with all members of the UCI Workforce team to recruit, enroll, and track participant achievements and program outcomes. In all instances the Workforce Readiness Instructor must perform in accordance with and be committed to the Journey House mission and vision. Other duties may be assigned in line with individual’s experiences and qualifications. Primary responsibility is to assist coordinate and facilitate age appropriate programs and activities for urban males ages 13 to 19 (Esquires) and junior Esquires ages 8 to 12 and to provide leadership and instruction for the Medical College of Wisconsin Violence Prevention Initiative (VPI). The Esquires/VPI Coordinator is an essential member of the Youth Programs Team and shares the responsibility of providing a safe and nurturing environment for youth and young adults. Additional team responsibilities will include assisting with program opportunities above and beyond the Esquires and VPI programs.
Social Media Intern
Are you a social media wiz looking to gain marketable experience? Are you an innovator seeking the challenge to build? If so, you could be our new Social Media Specialist. The Social Media Specialist acts as the developer, manager, and facilitator of Journey House's various social media platforms. Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, you will help connect the activities of Journey House with the local community in the virtual space.
Community Partnerships Intern
The position exists to oversee the communications, partnerships of Journey House. Implement and sustain a highly visible and consistent external and internal communications plan for agency. Lead efforts in collaboration to build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in the political, community and philanthropic arenas. Assist the supervision and oversight of Community Learning Centers’ program compliance and efficiency. Assist with Family Engagement activities, events and presentations.
Under the direction of the Youth Program Director/Deputy Director, the Girls in the House (GITH) Youth Development Specialist facilitates age appropriate programs and activities for urban girls ages 8 to 18 with an emphasis on leadership development and strengthening individual and group self-esteem. The GITH Youth Development Specialist will work closely with Youth Program staff, the Esquires male youth development specialist, the Community Engagement Program and Urban Careers Institute workforce readiness program in evaluating educational and career interests and counseling girls on college, work and personal decisions.
Do you love to capture exciting or heartfelt moments on video or in photos? Are you looking to develop the photojournalist in you? If so, Journey House needs you! As Photo-Communications Intern, you will be responsible for attending events and recording video and photographic footage of families, staff, board members, and donors. The images you produce will be used on our website, on social media, in our annual report and in several other spaces.
Working with the Director of Development will assist in providing strategic, creative, and effective leadership in maintaining and growing a comprehensive fund raising program to meet the budgetary requirements for both annual operating expenses and special projects, consistent with the mission and vision of Journey House.
This position acts as an ambassador for Journey House, with a goal of developing new funding sources and maintaining positive donor and community relationships. t.
Summer Camp Youth Specialist Intern
Under the supervision and guidance of the Community Learning Center (CLC) Coordinator, the primary responsibility of the CLC Summer Camp Youth Specialist is to coordinate and facilitate age appropriate education, arts, and recreation programs and activities for CLC participants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned in line with individual’s experiences and qualifications.
• Work with fellow staff to develop and implement fun, educational programming.
• Provide CLC Coordinator with activity updates and program descriptions.
• Ensure a safe, constructive educational and recreational environment for all CLC
• Interact appropriately and professionally with participants.
• Follow rules, regulations and expectations as conveyed by Journey House, and MPS School policies and procedures.
• Represent Journey House and the MPS School in a professional manner.
