Journey House Packers Football Stadium: A Beacon of Community Spirit
Welcome to Journey House Packers Football Stadium, a vibrant cornerstone of community life in Milwaukee! Established in 2013 with generous support from the Green Bay Packers, local philanthropists, and the LISC NFL Grassroots program, this remarkable facility has become a true treasure for residents and visitors alike. Did you know that it’s the only field in the United States featuring an NFL logo outside of an NFL stadium? That’s right! The turf, originally donated by the Packers from their Ray Nitschke Practice Field in 2009 to Journey House, brings a unique touch of the NFL to our local community.
Since its grand opening, the stadium has welcomed over 343,381 enthusiastic community members who have come to practice, play, and enjoy everything this facility has to offer. Spanning two acres in the beautiful Mitchell Park, just east of the iconic Domes, the stadium proudly displays the Packers’ iconic G logo at the 50-yard line alongside the words "PACKERS" in the south end zone and "GREEN BAY" in the north end zone. This history-rich space was actively utilized by the Packers from 2004 to 2009 and has transitioned beautifully into a home field for the Journey House Youth Football Program.
Journey House is committed to elevating the quality of life in the Clarke Square neighborhood through active community engagement. By listening to local families, we recognized a keen desire for healthy, engaging activities for youth on Milwaukee’s Near Southside. Our innovative initiatives not only provide a fantastic place for children to hone their athletic skills and teamwork but also focus on vital aspects like health, nutrition, and character development.
The football field has evolved into a vibrant gathering hub—encouraging not just kids, but also parents, grandparents, and guardians to unite and participate in youth sports. The excitement doesn’t stop there! The Journey House THRIVE Sports Turf & Landscaping Internship Training program creates invaluable workforce training opportunities and generates job creation through various game-day events and daily operations.
Every year, the Journey House Packers Football Program positively impacts over 60 fifth to eighth graders, representing an ethnically diverse and low-income segment of Milwaukee's youth. Our belief is that the football field serves as an extension of the classroom, offering important life lessons through the competitive spirit of sports, teamwork, and personal development.
