Youth Leadership Programs

Esquires: A Boys to Men group, (ages 13-18) which mirrors a college fraternity, emphasizes concepts such as; Discipline, Attitude, Patience, and Perseverance (DAPP) that which lays the foundation of all that is to come on the road to manhood.  Other concepts that are being utilize in the Esquires program are; honesty, respect, courage, honor, integrity, and responsibility.  The focus of this program is to equip young men with the confidence and know-how to accomplish their career goals and aspirations.  To develop these skills youth are trained to dress for success, job-hunt, on the importance of good work ethic, and portfolio and resume development.

Young Milwaukeean Leaders: This program is for young men & women alike; geared towards making youth responsible for their community and its development.  The Young Milwaukeean Leaders are critical in providing role models and social development experiences to leading healthy lifestyles and making the right decisions in a fast-paced, peer-pressured world.
 
Bridge Builders: The Bridge Builder group is made up of the most promising youth of the Young Milwaukeean Leaders, Girls in the House, and Esquire groups.  To be apart of this elite group you would have to first join at least one of the before mentioned groups at Journey House.  This group helps with the day functioning of the Youth Center and takes part in some of the decision making concerning activities and events at the Youth Center.  Every Thursday at 6:30pm, the Bridge Builders hold rap sessions in which current issues and world events are discussed.  The rap sessions are at times open to youth in the general population that would like to participant and join in any discussions.
