Sky Breathing Meditation is a program designed to help youth and adults deal with stress and anxiety through breathing techniques, reflection, and mindfulness. The program has been shown to increase positivity, optimism, self-image, grades in school, and pro-social behavior. At the same time, it decreases violence, stress, emotional outbursts, and pessimism. There are training curriculums for students and educators available.
Managing stress and negative emotions in a healthy way
Rationale: Peace, responsibility, commitment, respect, compassion, trust, honesty, nonviolence, and service to community. These are qualities that schools and adult leaders desire to instill in youth. However, stress, one of the most common aspects of modern life, prevents that from happening. Learning doesn’t exist if minds are full of stress – it’s like trying to plant seeds in rocky soil. Providing clear strategies to deal with this unavoidable aspect of life creates a happier, healthier and successful learning environment.
Approach: The Workshop offers techniques that inspire, empower and engage educators and community leaders to make these human values a living reality for the young people who are our future. It’s open to those interested in helping support the needs of our youth. Experiencing interactive processes of creativity, responsibility, purpose and commitment are the cognitive aspects of this 12-hour workshop. Powerful tools are taught which access the power of breath, at a physiological level, removing toxins from the body, increasing mental clarity and uplifting energy and awareness. All possibilities are available to a mind skilled in managing stress and negative emotions in healthy ways. A first step toward uplifting the essential human values so essential for young people to live successful lives.
Encouraged:
What to Wear: Comfortable clothes such as sweat pants, yoga pants, shorts (no pajamas, skirts, or dresses) for light stretching and moving around
What to Bring: Yoga mat (if you have one – if not, one will be provided for you), light blanket, and pillow
What to Drink: Please bring your own Water Bottle. Drink lots of water!
What to Eat: Healthy snacks (fruit or granola bars), lighter foods
Note: Course space will be a “no shoe” zone; please feel free to be barefoot or sport your favorite socks!

By the end of course you'll be equipped with specific techniques that you can practice every day. The value of these practices is both immediate and cumulative. You can look forward to continued and increasing benefits.
