Stadium Campaign
Historical Park. Legendary Field. Community Endeavor.
At Journey House, we believe that every individual is an asset, not a liability. Inherent in this belief is a desire to provide to individuals in underserved neighborhoods access to the best resources possible. Our Journey House Packers Stadium exemplifies this belief. Nowhere else in the world will you find a football field with a National Football League team's logo outside of a National Football League stadium. Milwaukee is truly fortunate to have this one-of-a-kind attraction, and Journey House is proud to offer this kind of resource to our participants.
Located in Mitchell Park behind the Mitchell Park Domes at South 22nd and Pierce Streets, the Journey House Packers Stadium officially opened on June 6, 2013. The synthetic turf football field–donated to Journey House by the Green Bay Packers, which used the field as part of their practice facility during the late 1990s and early 2000s–serves as the home field for the Journey House Youth Football League and Cheerleading Program. The league serves over 100 youth ages 6-14, representing a cross-section of ethnically-diverse, low-income youth from Milwaukee's inner city.
During football season (July through November), Journey House hosts an average of seven football games each weekend, with approximately 4,000 players and fans visiting the stadium on Saturdays alone. Bundle this with Marquette University High School (MUHS) Freshman and JV Football homes games, MUHS JV and Varsity Lacrosse home games, a Milwaukee Police Department Flag Football League, two semi-professional football teams, public use from 8am to Noon every Sunday, and various other events hosted by organizations renting the space, and suddenly there are tens of thousands of unduplicated individuals on-site every year.

More About Journey House Packers Football
Over 100 youth age 6 to 14 participate in the Journey House Football League. Beyond teaching the foundational skill sets of football, the program includes character development and education, including presentations and discussions at every practice for youth and parents on the theme of the week (leadership, teamwork, smart moves, honesty, persistence, responsibility, etc.). All youth are required to demonstrate ownership of a Milwaukee Public Library Card and submit a book report or project at the end of the season.
Journey House is proud to have its participants in our Youth Football and Cheerleading Programs wear Packers green and gold, colors that have come to represent commitment, achievement, and determination. As a community-based, non-profit organization on Milwaukee's near south side, Journey House stresses these qualities as we empower families by teaching them to be self-sufficient.
Our Journey House Packers are one of four programs in the Journey House Youth Football League, which serves the most ethnically diverse youth in the city, including African-American, Latino and Hmong kids ages 6 to 14. The program teaches its participants not only about the sport but about character development and life skills.
Workforce readiness opportunities are also integrated into this model to teach life skills for youth and adults to gain critical employment experience. Examples of jobs developed by the creation of the football stadium include:
