Journey House Esquires Program Grades 6-12th Description of Activity: A Boys-to-Men, development program to help young boys transition into manhood. The program will emphasize academics/education, appearance/dressing for success, grooming and hygiene, fitness, wellness, communication, relationships, workforce development, resources, career counseling, information about college, technical schools, trade schools, apprenticeships, and the military. Character and life skill development will be emphasized, financial literacy and fellowship. These topics will be covered during scheduled virtual meetings via the zoom platform. Meetings will last about 60-90 minutes and will be hosted by Deputy Director Mr.Brown. Esquires is a year around program to include the summer with breaks during the school year for holidays and other events. Sessions will be held every Tuesday, from 6-7 pm. Program is open to boys 13-18 years of age. Classes will start on January 12th |

BLOG/VLOG & Video Editing - Grades 6 - 12th
Description of Activity: Blogging exercises youth creativity. One of the benefits that come as a result of blogging is that it allows people to express themselves. Also, blogging tends to boosts confidence, improves communication skills, and self-assessment skills. Journey House youth will be able to create a blog/vlog on what they have been doing during this quarantine, giving their thoughts and opinions on COVID-19, Black Lives Matter movement and many more topics effecting youth today.
(Ages 13-18 must have phone, computer or digital camera)

Description of Activity: Youth will take 1 hour of their day to participate in YouTube dance tutorials by Matt Steffanina. This program will take youth through a range of gentle movements to increase your range of movements, strengthen joints and help alleviate pain. This virtual dance unites movement with today’s hot new music. Youth should expect sequences that begin slow, and progress to get your heart rate up, practice balance, and build strength, all while leaving you feeling energized and accomplished at the end.

Description of activity: This program brings together a diverse group of high school youth from across Milwaukee for a learning experience that aims to create the next generation of social justice advocates. Through this virtual program, youth will explore the concepts of justice, conflict and social change and examine the ways in which political, economic, media education, and other institutions create challenges for justice.
Focus Area: Race, Culture, Politics, Injustice

Secure Futures provides financial literacy programs and resources that empower students to make sound financial decisions. The vision is to build strong communities where teens and their families male informed financial decisions and take control of their financial future.

Focus Area: Data Analysis, Research & Communication, Coding & Digital Literacy.
