Journey House is one of two Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) Financial Opportunity Centers (FOC) in Wisconsin, with 72 across the nation (and growing).
Financial Opportunity Centers (FOC) are career and personal financial service centers that help low to moderate income individuals increase their net worth.  We encourage individuals to change financial behavior in a way that helps them to make a commitment to increasing income, reducing expenses, improving credit, and building assets.  In the FOC's strategy, individuals and families receive a coordinated set of three services, financial coaching and education, career coaching, and better access to public benefits and tax credits.

How we do it:
Financial Coaching and Education
  • Develop money management skills that lead to financial stability
  • Learn to understand your credit, how to build a positive credit history, and review your report
  • Share positive financial habits with your family and maximize your financial potential
Career Coaching
  • Assessment and exploration of skills, abilities and career interests
  • Resume & Application Review, Job Search Assistance
  • Maximize your job search campaign through improved networking and interview preparation
Income Supports Coaching
  • Complete an income supports screening
  • Apply for any eligible benefits
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
  • Free seasonal tax preparation assistance for qualified families and individuals
Our one-on-one coaching approach and strategy strives to sustain  a long term relationship with participants because building a stronger financial life is an ongoing process, often requiring three years’ time.  We are there throughout the journey toward self-sufficiency, committed to helping them take the necessary steps to be more productive and successful in reaching their goals.
